THE EBOLA OUTBREAK
Yes! The Ebola Outbreak, coming to a city near you, right?? I find it curious how over the years, we have had many media projects presented to us, involving a runaway disease that decimates us, and there’s not one stinkin’ thing we can do about it. With the possible exception of, waiting for our government to come rescue us with a vaccine or remedy which makes it all just go away. In addition to several movies like Outbreak and Contagion, how many Discovery Channel Documentaries and television programs have been produced, which present a Doomsday or Armageddon scenario involving a pathogen or virus that wipes us all out. It’s almost like there is a pattern to some of this.
THE MEDIA SCOURGE
Yes! After preparing us for years with what to think, and how to react, the whole scene is playing out right now involving the Ebola situation, splayed all over the news. I can’t help but think, that when the media runs with a story as heavily as they do, that something more is at play. A disease that has been around for centuries, and has various outbreaks around the world every year, is suddenly big news and coming to YOUR doorstep. No one can find a missing airplane, but every killer germ is seemingly tagged for migratory purposes, and you’re kept updated with every move it makes.
WHAT ARE OUR RIGHTS?
As a healing minister, I contemplate often about things like these. I think about virii and how they work and how they have affected humans for thousands of years. Somewhere in this mix, I can’t help but think that we have missed something and have missed something huge. Genesis 1:26 tells us:
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth
Whether in the air, or on the ground, a virus is a living thing. This is something that humans were initially designed to have dominion and authority over. This is a case where I don’t think we have fully stepped into our birthright of what Jesus did for us. You never once hear any story of Jesus having so much as a cold (which is a virus), or any other malady or affliction. Since He is our gold standard, then I truly believe that we need to reconsider some of our thoughts concerning sickness, disease and our mindset going forward.
HOW TO DEAL WITH A VIRUS
Some time back, during one of my quiet times with God, I asked Him how to attack a virus, whether it be a cold or something like an Ebola or AIDS situation. What I got back was, destroy the cell walls and it all falls apart. I have prayed for sicknesses in that way, albeit with some mixed results. Truth be told, much of what God reveals to me, is a bit of a puzzle to figure out. I am sure He could tell me flat out, but there is a journey of growth and understanding in working through the process. Proverbs 25:2 says:
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
WHERE TO GO FROM HERE
As a body of believers, we must really start to face down this topic of sickness, disease and infirmity and, in this writing, a virus specifically. I have attended several churches and ministry events where Christians are talking about their doctors, their medicines, their treatments, and so forth. I suppose my question is….why do we agree with this stuff? Why is it, that we always trust God second in these matters? Or, we also blend the two, and pray to guide the doctors hands, etc…
Understand, I am not opposed to these things, and this article is not speaking against them. Doctors and medicines are God’s mercies for His people. I do feel however, that Christians need to begin moving in a new direction with how we view these situations. I think a new mindset and a definite renewing of the mind is needed.
OUR DNA OPERATING SYSTEM
I read a recent study that claims that DNA contains memories of our previous generations. If so, this would begin to answer many questions we face in healing ministry, such as “why do we not see healing like Jesus did?” Imagine for just a moment, that you, right now, have a conglomeration of DNA in you, from upwards of millions of people over the years. Let’s say in that DNA, the memory passed forward is, that disease is a way of life, and there is nothing that can be done about it. By default, what does your genetic record believe, and what is automatically a part of you? You body’s DNA has predetermined that you are vulnerable to disease, from the moment you are born. I can’t say this with 100% certainty, but I can’t help to think, that our problem with sicknesses, disease and even death go back initially to our base source code. Our operating system is in need of a serious upgrade.
It’s similar to documents, like when you have a perfect original, and you start to make copies. Copies of copies of copies, eventually degrade over time. The way to make perfect copies is to start with the original and work from there. If God initially built humans to be immortal, then somewhere in our genetic record must exist something from this original code. Perhaps, by having the perfection of Jesus Christ living within us, we definitely have access not only to the correct source code, but we have the original, perfect copy with which to draw from.
AT YOUR FINGERTIPS NOW
I often think of modern computers as an example; one right now at your fingertips. You can have a brand new computer that is fully clean and clear. However, if the original installed operating system has any bugs or weaknesses in it, it could lead to a problem down the line. If this computer puts things into itself or searches around areas of the internet that are not helpful, its very possible that some code or program can infiltrate it, which keys in on that vulnerability. A computer virus exploits the base code for its own personal propagation and growth. When a computer gets a virus, you have several choices; wipe it out, clean the virus off, or maybe, take the whole possibility of exploitation off the table.
Being that the vast majority of computers in the world are Windows-based, it stands to reason that people who create a virus, target them the most. Many people try to put safeguards in place to stop it, preventative measures, and if they get hit, a remedy. But what about radical change?
I have heard many stories of Windows users, who were constantly getting hit with a virus, and it was doing nothing but destroying. So, they took the drastic move of changing to a completely new operating system, like with MAC or Linux for example. What does this do? It makes the virus incompatible with their current code. You can send as many Windows-based virus attacks against that operating system as you want. No matter how much, it has nothing to latch onto. It’s fully incompatible.
WHERE’S THE NEW CREATION
Of course, that is a simplistic example, but I simply use it to illustrate a point. My question is, if we are “new creations” which imply a species that has never been seen before, why are we still subject to the old creation vulnerabilities?
2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
I also look to Romans 12:2:
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will
It would be great to say that I know this as 100% complete. But I am searching out things, like anyone else. I am making observations about what I am seeing, and why I think it matters. I am putting this out there, so that we as a body can work together and come to a solution and understanding.
Here is what I am thinking…We are new creations in Christ. This means that we should not be subject to sicknesses and disease of this world. Christ never was, nor should we be. Per Romans 12, believing that we are vulnerable to disease, and seeking medical care, vaccines, doctors, etc is basically conforming to what the world also believes. The range from Atheists to those of faith all believe the same way concerning this. It’s what some would call our collective conscious on the matter. Whether people believe in God or not, they all uniformly agree that when sickness presents, to seek a doctor. If the world’s way is correct about things like this, then why would the Spirit need to change our thoughts and attitudes? That level of corporate belief is a powerful thing.
Ephesians 4:32 states:
Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
If the Spirit in us, is the perfect record of everything, and if the entire Godhead dwells in us, then it leads me to believe that the Spirit is not only trying to teach us what we need to know, but also the Spirit is trying to change our overall thinking on things. Why is this?
THE RECORD OF DNA
Because the more that our thoughts change, and the more that our beliefs change, then the more the record of this in our DNA changes. The more we think and act like Jesus, the more our DNA begins to copy His and line up with His. The more that we move toward what God’s will for our bodies are, the more we will mirror that. I believe that our faith can bring us to a point where our blood is so full of the life of Jesus, that a virus just can’t sustain in any real way. I think that we can renew our minds to the point where the body will follow. By renewing our minds and bodies to Jesus, our personal operating system becomes incompatible with the code of sickness.
I believe that by making our DNA line up with Jesus, that parts of our body that need repair or healing, will receive them. It is often said that every cell in your body replaces itself over a 7 year period. What if instead of those cells copying the last copy and duplicating (which is ageing), let’s say those cells go back to the original Jesus DNA and make the copies. Sick or dying organs will rebuild themselves, blood will be more and more pure, and DNA will become cleaner and cleaner. This could be the genetic record that we pass on; embedded with the memory that God does heal, that changes can happen, and that we are not conformed to things of this world.
HOW IT APPLIES TO US
So, how does this all tie in together with Ebola? If we renew our minds and belief to a point where our DNA changes to line up with Jesus, then what disease could even attach to us? It wouldn’t matter if it’s a cold, malaria, AIDS or hemorrhagic fever. It would die off before it had a chance to even set up. It would be over before it started.
Let’s assume that some of the conspiracy theories are true and they want to force vaccinations on people. What if the malicious code in those vaccines were injected into our bodies, and just had no effect on us at all. How would it look if there was a real outbreak, and while everyone was wearing HazMat suits, the Christians were there getting people healed, raised up and were doing it, while walking around in plain, everyday clothing. People would eventually question…why are the Christians not affected? What do they have that we don’t?
DAYDREAM OR REALITY
Many people will read this, and assume I am daydreaming and that this is not realistic. Well, raising the dead is also not considered “realistic” but we have seen it happen in our ministry, and I know many others who have as well. Most times people who state that, are not really qualified to determine what is “realistic” or not. Their opinions are too closely pinned to the thinking of this world.
We say that all things are possible in God, right? Well, why would this be so far-fetched? The idea that we don’t have to be sick would be considered preposterous? Why is it a stretch to think that we could be impervious to disease, for the purpose of getting others healed and set free…all the while demonstrating the power of the Kingdom?
Much like everything in our Christian faith, I think we need to move our thinking back to the original source. Jesus is our gold-standard for everything we do, and we need to allow Him to not only spiritually transform us, but also physically and mentally as well. Sickness and disease is not who we are, and not what we are created to live under. We are battling several thousand years of worldly thinking, deeply embedded in our DNA, and trying to reconcile our current faith with it. This could be a considerable reason why we see inconsistencies in the things we pray for.
I am not saying that I am 100% perfect with this, or that I even walk in this level of fullness yet. But just because we have not fully arrived, does not mean we have to stop the journey. We can’t get lost in the wilderness on our way to the promised land. We can’t make Heaven on Earth if all we ever do, is what the Earth does.
GOING FORWARD IN TRUTH
Something in our source code, our DNA record, needs to change going forward. We need to renew ourselves fully and holistically to everything that God has given us. Once we do, we may see generations that don’t pass away. When you have generations that wouldn’t pass away, it would be amazing how quickly God’s fully-matured people would fill the Earth. The possibilities from there, are endless.
In closing, renew your mind to who you are and why you are here. Let the Spirit change your thoughts, your body and your mindset. Believe the Word when it says that all things are possible. Step fully into your birthright, and what belongs to you. Jesus is patiently waiting for you to subdue the Earth with Him, and the Earth is groaning waiting for you as well. Someone has to have the faith to do these things. So, why not you?
Why should a microscopic organism invoke global fear and panic, when the Creator of the Universe is freely available to stop it dead in it’s tracks. Don’t be gripped by the fear. Be gripped by the endless array of God’s possibilities both in Heaven and specifically…here on Earth.
